Freedom of Worship Association of Malawi-FOWAM members want the grouping’s leader Prophet Mbewe to contest in the 2025 presidential polls.
The endorsement was made during an engagement between the membership drawn from the Southern region in Blantyre.
However, Mbewe who was among six other candidates earmarked to take the reins of power within the former ruling DPP has however been coy on whether to give in to the call or not.
Some of the members say Mbewe has over the years portrayed character that is well deserving for a national leader.
But Mbewe says the call is something he will have to ponder stating that a stance on his end has not been made as of yet.
In reacting to demands for the current administration to call for a referendum, Mbewe insisted that those behind the call have other motives than developing the country since they are also politicians.
