Experts are advising political leaders to commit to developing the country rather than just focusing on winning an election.
The call from Derick Thom, an economic expert, is coming as various presidential aspirants are on the campaign trail, selling their promises to voters.
It’s also coming as it has been observed that most political party manifestos focus on consumption rather than production.
Among the promises is that by Malawi Congress Party President Lazarus Chakwera to distribute 1 million Kwacha to a million people to improve the business sector.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Thom, while acknowledging that such promises are just baits, said there is a need for politicians to align their plans with the aspirations of the country’s long-term development goals.
