Minister of finance Sosten Gwengwe has said government will conduct another audit into the misappropriation of Constituency Development Funds amounting to 130 million kwacha at Mbelwa District Council.
Gwengwe said this in his response to the concerns raised by Member of Parliament for Mzimba South Chambulanyina Jere, who said the misappropriated funds are yet to be reimbursed.
According to Gwengwe, government intends to conduct another audit at the council to establish what really happened.
Later Speaking to MIJ Online, Chambulanyina Jere MP for Mzimba South said Mzimba MPs want the misappropriated funds reimbursed as an internal audit was already conducted.
He has however expressed excitement that with the newly approved CDF guidelines, the Fund will be protected from cases like these.

The Organizations; National Alliance against corruption, Youth and Society and Oxfam Malawi said this in Lilongwe on Thursday.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Moses Mkandawire, Chairperson of the National Anti-Corruption Alliance, said they want the enquiry to dig deep into the damage organized corruption and state capture has caused and see how best the country can prevent and combat corruption.
He said, it is sad to note that corrupt individuals have managed to influence the country’s Legal environment, procurement systems and processes.
According to Mkandawire, there is need for each and every Malawian to take part in guarding the country’s resources.
