Parliament has today passed an amendment to the 2016 Land bill, which has among other things raised expectations that people will meaningfully utilize their idle land in the country.
The newly-passed amendment bill is expected to help in the control of land ownership by some foreigners, who are holding huge pieces of their land at the expense of Malawians.
Giving details of the bill in an interview with MIJ Online, Sam Kawale, the Minister of Land disclosed that the newly approved amendment will also be demanding people to be developing their land within two years.
Failing which the land, according to Kawale will be taken over by government.
