A breakaway group of the Muslim Association of Malawi-MAM has demanded the resignation of the top leadership of the association- over alleged failure to address their socio-economic welfare and lack of accountability.
The group dubbed Zisintha Islamic Welfare Organization has accused the leadership of MUM of holding their positions illegally.
The group is also accusing the association of neglecting the welfare of sheiks.
Speaking to Muhammed Kgweli -Secretary General of the group said sheikhs are living below the minimum wage with most of them receiving K35, 000 a month.
MAM Spokesperson, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, dismissed the existence of the grouping, describing it as misguided.
