Super League of Malawi (SULOM) President Fleetwood Haiya has formally declare interest in contesting as Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President in 16th December polls.
He said the decision has been made after a careful examination of all relevant factors and accepted the call from affiliates and Malawians.
He said he intends to serve as FAM President, with a desire to offer the sport a renewed hope, vision, and purpose.
“You will all agree with me that a collective duty to re-orient the state of our football into a strong and competitive footballing nation requires an accomplished football acumen and drive that place the interest of our game over and beyond personal interests and gains. To our distinguished FAM affiliates, you are holding the fate of our game in your hands. You have a critical mandate to promote and protect the future of our football for generations to come from 16th December 2023 and beyond”, Haiya said.
He has since said he will soon share a blueprint that will propel an agenda for the joint efforts to take football to the next level.
Haiya has in the interim already received some nominations from Beach Soccer of Malawi and the Northern Region Football Association (NRFA)
At the moment, incumbent FA President Walter Nyamilandu is yet to make such a disclosure.
