The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) is urging President Peter Mutharika to take what they describe as ‘urgent action’ in addressing the ongoing fuel, water and power crises in the country.
The organization says the situation is unacceptable and is a violation people’s rights.

Speaking to MIJ Online Michael Kaiyatsa Vice Chairperson for HRDC said particularly they are concerned about the fuel shortage, which has lasted for over a month and is affecting businesses, hospitals and households.
Kaiyatsa has since urged Mutharika to demonstrate what he is apparently terming as political will in addressing the crises.
