Teachers trained under the IPTE14 program have given government seven days to address their concern in which they are seeking permanent work in the civil service.
The concern comes as government has been hiring some of the teachers under the program on temporary basis, a development some section of the teachers feels has not been making any sense in line with efforts to improve education standards as enshrined in the development blueprint Malawi 2063.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Yankho Mathias, Spokesperson for IPTE 14 cohort has questioned the rationale behind government’s continued move to call for people to join trainings under the program when thousands of already trained teachers are taking years to earn full employment.
‘’We feel that government is not honest with us at all in this issue. We have been wondering why we have not been hired fully as it is supposed to be when authorities keep training more teachers under similar program, ‘’ he says.
He has since said they expect authorities to respond to their concerns in a week’s time failure which they will mobilize themselves for another course of action.
