The People Over Politics Foundation (PoPF) has assured students from colleges that have not been considered in the current phase of the Public Universities and Colleges Students Stipend Fund that it will continue to mobilize resources to assist more less-privileged students.
In an interview with MIJ Online, Blair Mhone, Spokesperson for the Foundation, said that the intervention is driven by observations made by its founder, Eng. Vitumbiko Mumba, on the difficult conditions many students are facing, especially in tertiary education.
According to Mhone, Eng. Mumba, who is Member of Parliament for Mzimba Central Constituency, is well aware of the overwhelming number of less-privileged students in all colleges who are suffering.
He explained that through the People Over Politics Foundation, the founder will continue to advocate for vulnerable students and mobilize more resources so that the programme benefits more learners.
Mhone further commended other groups that are already supporting needy students through Alumni Associations and other initiatives, arguing that there is need for collective action to ensure no student is left behind.
