LL waterboard upbeat on meeting bill recovery plans

Utility supplier Lilongwe Water Board has expressed hope on recovering over 80 percent of unpaid bills in the ongoing water disconnection exercise the board has embarked on.

The board embarked on a meter reading and disconnection exercise on 1st July as a way of recovering unpaid water bills which now stands at 8.9 billion Kwacha from institutions, residential and commercial customers.

Customer and Public Relations Manager for Lilongwe Water Board Chisomo Chibwana has told MIJ Online that the huge outstanding bills have negatively affected operations of the board hence embarking on the exercise.

Chibwana added that the board is intensifying prepaid meter connections as one way of addressing the challenges of unpaid water bills.
