Luanar innovative students earn support from CDH Bank

CDH Investment Bank has awarded MK1.7 Million each to five first year students at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR)’s as part of the Vice Chancellors student innovator awards.

This is part of efforts means to promote innovation and creativity among students in line with national goals to do with agriculture.

According to CDH Investment Bank Relationship Manager, Jennie Madinga, the bank trusts that agriculture coupled with innovation stands as a huge potential in helping the country address related issues like hunger.

“As a bank, we remain committed to supporting education which is the cornerstone of growth and development for any nation. The investment in education through the scholarships programme will assist our country to adapt and thrive in all aspects of agri-business and improve the economy on top of all the efforts that are being done,” she said.

In reaction to the support, LUANAR Vice Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kaunda said the awards were introduced so as to enhance the hardworking spirit and innovation which the school has strong sights on.

“This support from CDH Bank has come at a right from time What we have done and continue to do is to get students who really have passion for agriculture and that passion can only be seen if they select it as number one during the circulation process.  If this country is to grow, we must enhance agricultural productivity and commercialization. If production is high, we end up commercializing that,” he said.

One of the winners, Will Harvey who is studying bachelor of science in animal science said the accolade will push her to further work hard.

The ceremony, held at LUANAR’s Bunda Campus in Lilongwe was attended by various academic and CDH bank staff members, among others.
