Malnutrition fears raised over hunger situation

There are fears that the country may experience high cases of malnutrition among pregnant women and children due to the impending hunger.

The southern and central parts of the country have been experiencing prolonged dry spells during this year’s rainy season.

With this, food security experts have warned of hunger, as most crops have withered in most fields of the affected areas.

Speaking to MIJ Online, George Jobe, Executive Director for Malawi Health Equity Network, expressed concern that the situation may fuel malnutrition in the country.

Jobe has since called upon authorities to come up with deliberate measures aimed at averting the hunger situation, hence preventing malnutrition
