Government says MK 100 Million will be used for the first ever Umodzi Day commemorations, a ceremony at which stakeholders will make commitments meant to enhance national unity and peace.
The commemorations will take place on 2nd November in Lilongwe.
The ceremony will bring together authorities drawn from different fields of the society including political parties, cultural groupings and religious groups.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Richard Chimwendo Banda Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture said apart from the ministry pumping in resources, the United Nations has also supported with finances.
Chimwendo has since expressed optimism that the commemorations will mark a fresh drive to enhance unity, tolerance and peace across di
vides.
