Mthunzi Funeral Services has donated MK 1 Million to the Malawi Orthopedic Association ahead of its looming National Trauma Consultative Forum in Lilongwe in two weeks’ time.
The meeting comes in the week of heightened concern of increased road accidents, most of which involve motorcycle taxis fondly known as kabaza.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Maureen Sabawo, President of the Malawi Orthopedic Association, that the conference will involve a wide range of stakeholders to among other things ponder on having a policy on the condition and a stringent resource mobilization drive.
She said it has become of concern that resources are channeled to medical conditions that are perceived differently than those who sustain injuries.
‘’That is why today, we are excited that Mthunzi Funeral Service has supported our cause to have this crucial conference. We will deliberate on how we must raise resources and awareness of this condition as accidents have become common in recent months,’’ she said.
On his part, Onesimus Karakadzai, General Manager for Mthunzi Funeral Services said they supported the meeting having realized its importance.
‘’ As Mthunzi, we recognize the importance of medical services related to bones, which is why we have made this donation,’’ he said.
The National Trauma Consultative Forum, takes place in Lilongwe at BICC from November 15 to 16, 2023.
