National Bank moves to address ATM failures

The National Bank of Malawi says it has partnered with third-party service providers to offer Auto Teller Machines (ATMs) services to enhance the convenience of its customers’ transactions.

The disclosure was made during a stakeholder engagement session held in Lilongwe.

Additionally, the bank disclosed that its audited financial results for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023, made a profit after tax of K71.96 billion, a significant increase from the K45.9 billion reported in 2022.

In an interview with MIJ Online Jimmy Lipunga Board Chairperson of National Bank Plc expressed the bank’s desire to establish further agreements, aiming to empower local firms while prioritizing the delivery of excellent services to its customers.

Lipunga also mentioned that the recent approval of the Extended Credit Facility by the International Monetary Fund holds promise to alleviate the foreign exchange challenges encountered by the bank.

Meanwhile, Cemacia Kombe, a shareholder in the bank, has encouraged National Bank to expand its foreign exchange initiatives in order to alleviate the challenges customers encounter when accessing foreign currency.
