The Malawi Lost History Foundation is advocating for the establishment of a special committee to oversee the nomination and selection process for national honors.
This comes after President Lazarus Chakwera’s recent decree to rename several national landmarks after notable figures, including Bakili Muluzi, Peter Mutharika, and Joyce Banda.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Conlieth Sellenje, Executive Director of the Malawi Lost History Foundation, emphasized the need to recognize the contributions of many individuals who have shaped the country’s development.
Sellenje noted that currently, only a few individuals receive national recognition, despite the many others who have made significant contributions.
