Police have arrested nine people in connection with a recent spate of robberies including one at the house of a Catholic Bishop in Chikwawa.
According to statement from Police signed by James Kadadzera Spokesperson for Malawi Police Service the arrested are directly connected to a spate of breakings targeting Catholic Institutions including Limbe Cathedral, Nantipwili Parish at Bvumbwe, Thunga Parish in Thyolo and to homes and business premises of some prominent individuals.
According to Kadadzera, the nine arrested include Blessings Patrick Kapusa from Nkhotakota District, Ibrahim Samuel Mbewe from Thyolo District.
The statement further indicates that Police have also recovered some of the stolen properties which include cellphones and cash (in foreign currency) stolen at Nantipwili Parish at Bvumbwe.
Meanwhile, Police has assured Malawians that detectives are working around the clock to bring to book other remaining suspect and recover other stolen properties.
