Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda has said government employees who are on interdiction will not be receiving their salaries.
Nyirenda made the remarks during a joint press conference with minister of information Gospel Kazako in Lilongwe.
This is in contradiction with a position taken by his predecessor Chikosa Silungwe who said it was illegal for government to withhold salaries for interdicted employees.
However, the AG has said his office will challenge any law that is against the withholding of salaries for interdicted employees.
He further said his office will institute an investigation against people who presented cooked up figures to IMF and World Bank about the country’s economy.
He added that his office has also been given mandate to recover all resources which were obtained illegally and the sale of MSB Bank.
