A massive search operation is underway in Chikangawa forest for a plane carrying Vice President Saulosi Chilima and nine others, which went missing earlier yesterday.
The last known location of the passengers was traced to a tower in Chikangawa, according to authorities.
Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu, addressed the press in Lilongwe, stating that the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has engaged experts from neighboring countries, including Zambia, Tanzania, and Kenya, to assist in the search.
According to Kunkuyu, MACRA found out that the last location of the passengers was Raiply tower.
Meanwhile General Valentino Phiri of the Malawi Defence Force has disclosed that the search efforts are facing numerous challenges, including dense forest and rugged terrain.
Phiri has since urged the public to refrain from spreading fake news and speculation, as the authorities will provide updates on the situation every two hours.
The incident has sparked widespread concern, and the government has assured the public that everything possible is being done to locate the missing plane and its passengers.
The search operation continues, with hopes of a positive outcome.
