Authorities say money amounting to 1.5 billion Kwacha has been used to rehabilitate roads and bridges across the country.
Earlier this year, government through its programme called Transforming Agriculture through Diversification Entrepreneurship programme started maintaining stores for produce, rehabilitating roads, bridges, buildings to support commodities and livestock water points of farmers in the country.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Oscar Ulili, Knowledge and communications officer for Trade programme said they have completed constructing roads which aims at ensuring that rural farmers are now able to transport their produce to markets easily.
Currently Trade Programme has managed to complete the rehabilitation of various projects in 20 sites in Kasungu, Ntchisi, Mchinji, Lilongwe, Dedza, Blantyre and Thyolo.
Trade Programme is a 6-year Government of Malawi Programme funded by International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) and Opec Fund for International Development (OFID).
The Trade programme aims at improving rural livelihoods through commercialized agriculture targeting seven value chains of honey, Irish potatoes, sunflower, soya beans, groundnuts, and milk.
The programme is also offering funds to innovative farmers through ACIF, which is aimed at ensuring that creating as many opportunities for farmers as possible.
