Over forty students affected in a ‘food poisoning case’

The Ministry of Education says it is monitoring an alleged food poising incident involving students at Lunzu Secondary School in Blantyre.

This follows a video clip that is making rounds on social media, which is showing the students in presumable pain having eaten food believed to be poisoned.

Reports are indicating that, the learners were rushed to Mlambe Hospital to receive medical attention.

According to Mphatso Nkuonera Spokesperson in the Ministry of Education, the incident involves about 45 students

He said most of them are responding to treatment and that about three are still at the hospital waiting for further observation.

The Ministry has now suspended the use of all food items at the school, as they are still assessing to establish the cause of the problem.
