The Public Appointments Committee of Parliament -PAC has summoned board members of Mera for a hearing over their alleged incompetence in handling the recruitment of Henry Kachaje has CEO of the energy regulator.
According to Joyce Chitsulo, Chairperson of PAC, the committee will hear the side of the story of the board members from Saturday to Sunday this week in Blantyre.
The development comes as government has asked the PAC to approve the firing of Mera’s board.
“You cannot remove someone from a position without hearing them. If the committee finds that the board indeed did not follow the procedures , it will not hesitate but to approve their firing but if it finds that they did nothing wrong, we will reject it”. Chitsulo said
