Parliament calls for probe into the death of MRA officer
The Budget and Finance Committee of Parliament Chairperson Gladys Ganda has expressed sadness with the death of Alinafe Bonongwe who was until his death working as Dedza Border Malawi Revenue Authority Station Manager.
Reports are showing that Bonongwe was found dead in his office house in Dedza with a rope around his heard. However, the Police have commenced investigations into his death.
But in a Statement, Ganda who is also Opposition DPP shadow minister of Trade said it is sad that the country has lost Bonongwe who was so determined to fight corruption and smuggling of various items through unchartered routes with an aim to evade taxes at the Dedza Border.
“The late Alinafe Bonongwe committed his crime when he tried to save Malawi from evil people who have no intentions of allowing this country to develop. It is so disheartening that our country is slowly degenerating into a country of terror when innocent Malawians try to protect our taxes.” Said Ganda.
Ganda has therefore called upon the law enforcement agencies to do their job and find the truth behind the death of Bonongwe.
