The People’s Transformation Party (Petra), has announced it is no longer part of the Tonse Alliance leadership.
According to a statement issued by Kamuzu Chibambo, President of Petra, the decision comes in the wake of woes facing the regime and recent concerns on the fight against corruption and circumstances surrounding Anti Corruption Bureau Director General Martha Chizuma.
The statement also cites growing socioeconomic challenges like hunger and maladministration of public projects like the AIP Program.
The Tonse Alliance had nine parties in total which triumphed in the historical 2020 fresh Presidential polls.
Meanwhile, political analyst Chimwemwe Tsitsi has told MIJ Online that the move is a sign of no future in the alliance and gives room for the leadership to put its house in order.
