Government has attributed its progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS to strong political will in the country.
According to authorities, the country’s achievement of reaching the 95:95:95 target is a testament to the commitment of leaders to address the epidemic.
In an interview with MIJ Online Adrian Chikumbe, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, highlighted several factors that have contributed to Malawi’s success.
According to Chikumbe the efforts includes; sustained funding from partners and government, uninterrupted supply of HIV medicines and medical supplies and the collection of data to inform decision-making.
Chikumbe noted that placing the HIV/AIDS response under the Office of the President and Cabinet at one point demonstrated the government’s commitment to addressing the issue.
