The First Grade Magistrate Court in Blantyre has sentenced 28-year-old Prophet Samuel James to 12 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 15-year-old girl.
James – who is also the founder for the Path to the Everlasting Life Ministries in Lirangwe, Blantyre, started going out with the girl in August 2019, before impregnating her.
She gave birth in May this year.
The incident occurred as the girl was then about to sit for the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
After impregnating her, the prophet later married the girl and relocated to Matindi where he later abandoned her.
The prophet was then arrested in Lilongwe in October this year after the girl’s parents lodged a complaint at the Lirangwe Police Unit.
