The Malawi Police Service says the country has marked a 11% decrease in road accidents in the first half of 2025, with 1,894 accidents reported compared to 2,124 in 2024.
According to the Malawi Police Service, improved traffic law enforcement and dedicated traffic officers contributed to the decline.
However, fatal accidents rose by 10%, from 373 to 411.
Despite this, the total number of fatalities dropped by 0.2% to 464.
