The NGO – Gender Coordination Network says underfunding remains the major setback to efforts meant to achieve gender equality.
This has been disclosed as the organization has clocked 25 years in existence plus holding their Annual General Meeting under the theme ‘advancing Malawi’s gender agenda towards 2063’.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Barbra Banda outgoing chairperson for NGO – GCN said economic challenges have forced funders out.
Banda has since called for the need of more efforts for the country to achieve the 2063 goals.
Jean Sendeza Minister of Gender has meanwhile pledged to take a role so that projects like advocating for 50/50 campaign which was being funded by Norwegian government should continue for more women to retain their seats in parliament.
