Cisanet – an agriculture lobby group has underpinned the importance of mega farms as a drive towards turning around the country’s economic fortunes.
This is contained in a media statement signed by Herbert Chagona – chairperson of the network.
He says mega farms, if fully supported have the potential to make Malawi food secure and socio-economically strong.
In a follow interview; he has advised government to partner with the private sector if the project to yield any desired result.
In spite of being an ambitious initiative, Chagona says, mega farms would need collaboration among relevant authorities for smooth implementation for the program to bear expected results.
Meanwhile, government has been on the trail opening mega farms and touting the extensive farms as one solution to the recent time food insecurity status.
