Three people have died and three others sustained minor injuries after being hit by unregistered Toyota Sienta motor vehicle at Kabale Trading Center in Karonga District.
The vehicle was driven by 34 year-old Israel Mwakapanda on earth road on Monday evening.
Lovemore Ipopo,43 and Harrison Kawiro who is also an adult died upon arrival at Karonga District Hospital while 60 year-old Tiyezge Simwaba died in the following morning.
Investigations indicate that the driver failed to control the motor vehicle due to over speeding as he was approaching the trading center and ended up hitting six pedestrians.
In reaction to the accident, an angry mob assaulted the driver and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Karonga District Hospital while the vehicle was extensively damaged.
Police in the district advise people to desist from taking the law into their own hands.
Lovemore Ipopo,Harrison Kawiro,Tiyezge Simwaba and the driver,Israel Mwakapanda were from Mwakasoko Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwakaboko in Karonga District.
