The United General Insurance Company (UGI) has channeled over MK4 Million to best performing students under an accolade that is called the Deans List at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (Kuhes) in Blantyre.
The awards are meanwhile being touted as a worthwhile towards attaining and encouraging academic excellence.
According to McDonald Chibwe, Chief Operating Officer for UGI, the move was supported by the company which is also synonymous with success.
He said as a matter of commitment, the company will continue supporting Kuhes in producing the best medical practitioners.
”We saw it fit to make this support because, this is a crucial institution, whose graduates deal with peoples lives. Our commitment will be extended in various ways so long as they are aimed at enhancing excellence,” he said.
On his part, Dr. Banjamin Kumwenda, Director for Students Affairs at Kuhes said the support will go a mile in motivating the recipients and other students to excel.
He said the institution has stringent standards in providing top notch academic prowess.
Elida Mwenebanda was named the overall best students after she bagged an incredible seven distinction in the final year level.
She tilted the mark to hard-work and continued learning at the institution and said she believes it also motivates other girls at the university.
The cash rewards ranged from MK75,000, MK125,000 to MK200,000.
