Water woes to hit Lilongwe
People in Lilongwe will have to brace for more water scarcity as Lilongwe Water Board has announced reduced water production due to heavy rains that have affected equipment.
According to statement made available to MIJ FM signed by LWB Management, heavy rains that have led to flooding of Lilongwe river have left water pumping equipment submerged in water.
The statement adds that following submerging of equipment, LWB has reduced its production at its treatment works 1 and 2 which supplies to the city.
Furthermore, there is completely no production at the Bunda plant which supplies to LUANAR and part of Mitundu.
Management has therefore advised their valued customers to use any stored enough water sparingly during the period.
Meanwhile LWB says they are closely monitoring situation such that once the flood subsidizes the equipment will be serviced to continue production.
The board has since indicated that water bowsers are on standby to assist customers.
