Atlas Corps SCholar goes cholera fight
As government through the ministry of health continues to carryout efforts meant to contain the cholera outbreak, Revelation Nyirongo, an Atlas Corps Alumnus has secured the Hilton Prize VLI Atlas Corps Community Impact Fund to implement a project around Building Resilience on Cholera and Wash related Outbreaks.
The project which will be implemented in Neno district specifically Zalewa village which happens to among the cholera hotspots will begin today.
Nyirongo has partnered the ministry of Health, partners in Health Malawi, Inspire Marketing Group and Platinum Photography.
He says he is optimistic that the project will go a long way in increasing the uptake of cholera vaccine and improve the hygiene status among others.
Speaking to MIJ Online Nyirongo said Zalewa being a business hub it brings together a lot of people hence increasing the physical exchange that can fuel the cases of cholera.
“Zalewa has poor sanitation due to safe water challenges, as such the low vaccine uptake poses a huge risk to the people around this area hence this project is very timely and will go a long way in complementing the government efforts,” said Nyirongo.
