Advocates say they expect President Lazarus Chakwera to address Malawi’s status on corruption fight in his upcoming state of the nation address.
Chakwera is expected to address the nation on Friday 9th February 2024 at parliament where he will officially open the 2024/2025 budget session.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Boniface Chibwana National Coordinator for the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace said the Malawi leader should use the opportunity to address the corruption rot whereby the recent corruption index report revealed Malawi is backsliding on the fight against the vice.
Chibwana has also stressed on the need for President Chakwera to address the hunger situation affecting many Malawians as well as serious violations of human rights especially abuses towards the elderly.
