The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services and Climate Change has warned of a heatwave which is expected over areas in Shire Valley for the next five days.
Confirming the development to MIJ Online, Director for the department-Lucy Mtilatila-said the heat wave which has been identified to be level 2 with minor impact, will bring in hot temperatures of between 40°C to 42°c.
According to Mtilatila, the extreme hot weather condition is being influenced by persistent warm easterly winds from the Indian Ocean.
She has since advised the public to keep hydrated by drinking a lot of water and avoid exposure from direct sunshine more particularly between 12pm to 3pm when maximum heating of the day occurs.
