Blantyre Synod Radio together with some gospel musicians in the country have donated different assorted items to patients in Gogo Chatinkha Banda Maternity wing at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
The Maternity wing has 10 wards and the assorted items were disbursed to expectant mothers and newly delivered mothers in all the wards in the wings as one way of celebrating Mother’s Day.
Speaking to MIJ Online Vincent Khonyongwa, Station Manager for Blantyre Synod Radio says although the institution is still facing different challenges they decided to make this donation as one way of celebrating the good work that women do in the country.
Khonyongwa further added that this was one of the ways of appreciating mothers who are the major listening group of its radio and further thanked all the institutions that supported the initiative like KIPS Restaurant and the office of the First Lady.
Meanwhile, Rudo Mkukupa Chakwera, one of gospel musicians in the country, who also represented the First lady at the ceremony thanked Blantyre Synod Radio for coming up with this initiative and asked other institutions in the country to emulate on what Blantyre synod radio has done.
Mkukupa Chakwera further added that the office of the first lady supported the initiative as Queen Elizabeth Central has many patients.
Speaking on behalf of the gospel musicians, DR Ethel Kamwendo Banda thanked all the gospel musicians who supported the initiative as they have helped in reached out to many patients at the support.
The items include; packets of sugar, wrappers, soap and buckets among others.
