FCB Nyasa Big Bullets claimed a comfortable 5-1 win over Dedza Dynamos at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre today to reach the finals for the FDH Cup, subsequently setting up a showdown against Mafco.
Nigerian defender Collins Okumu opened the rout in the first half after which Hassan Kajoke, McFarren Mgwira and Antony Mfune’s scored a brace in the other half for Bullets who reached this far after edging past Extreme FC.
The visitors had their consolation goal with just 85 minutes go from Gift Magola whose side reached the semifinal having beaten Moyale Barracks.
But the home side banked on the opener just after three minutes from Okumu as the lifeline until recess. The defender managed to head in home from a well taken corner kick by Gomegzani Chirwa.
In the same half Bullets had numerous chances but Nigerian Chinedu Okafor kept missing to make the all-important touches.
He was also twice denied to shoot by Justice Chihoma. The Dedza skipper was all alert as he blocked Chinedu’s header and a lethal cross from Chirwa.
He was before recess pulled out for Kajoke.
No wonder, Okafor was replaced by Kajoke before the break.
In the second half, Dedza did not contain the attack Bullets had been launching and conceded thrice in just eight minutes from 72 minutes.
This time Kajoke and Mgwira scored coupled with a brace from Mfune.
But an improbable lifeline was raised when the visitor scored through Magola five minutes left before the final whistle.
Bullets will now be looking to defend the title with their coach Callisto Pasuwa saying: “ We did our homework. You might have noticed that we struggled in the first-half. But when we played as a team in the second-half, we got those goals.”
On his part, stated that he noticed lack of concentration from his charges.
Bullets will now look to defend the honors as they will face Mafco who broke their cup final appearance jinx for ten years having claimed a 1 nil win over Mighty Mukuru Wanderers last week.
Last year, Bullets sprung out a 3-1 win over Bullets Reserves before the Football Association of Malawi ruled that reserve sides should not reach national levels of competitions.
