Personal bodyguard to ex-president Peter Mutharika – Norman Chisale has come under fierce attack from his home-men over his claims that he is being persecuted by the state.
Chisale is answering charges of illicit financial transactions including fraudulent importation of cement from Zambia by using Mutharika’s privileges.
Meanwhile, his bank accounts remain frozen and some of his properties like houses, lodges and a fleet of vehicles ceased as he is yet to justify before the court the source of his wealth.
However, he deems his arrest and on-going trial as state persecution; strategically engineered to finish him and his fortunes off.
He recently alleged on a local TV – ZBS; that, besides him, government is also persecuting other high profile individuals like vice president Saulos Chilima and preacher Shepherd Bushiri.
He’s also on record accusing Justice Minister Titus Mvalo and former Director of Public Prosecution, Steven Kayuni of personally influencing the freezing of his accounts – a development that has choked his support for his family.
But this has earned Chisale a wrath of accusations from his home-men trading under the banner Concerned Citizens of Ntcheu who are advising him “to invest his energy more on national building than destruction.”
Reacting to Chisale’s claims; Wester Kosamu, one of the eminent voices from Ntcheu observed the pronouncements by Chisale were both “irresponsible and destructive.”
Kosamu, who hails from Khomera Village, Senior Chief Makwangwala has wondered where Chisale was getting the authority to speak for the people of Ntcheu instead of fighting his issues and clearing himself in court.
According to him, it would be wise if everyone took the responsibility of building the nation as opposed to engaging in fights or pronouncements that would divide the nation.
