The Blantyre high court has today adjourned to next year, a case in which one Chikhulupililo Zidana has been challenging the appointment of Brigadier General Charles Kalumo as the Director General of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services.
Zidana contended that the appointment of the Director General of the Department of Immigration falls under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Homeland Security as stipulated in Section 3 of the Immigration Act.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Lozindawa Mbvundula lawyer for Zidana said their case remains that Kalumo was illegally appointed given legal provisions for the job.
Meanwhile, Thabo Chakaka Attorney General has said until now when the case is adjourned to next year February, they argue that Kalumo meets all requirements for the role.
