Experts have questioned the findings of the commission of enquiry into the arrest of Director General for Anti- Corruption Bureau, Martha Chizuma.
Yesterday, president Lazarus Chakwera made a directive that the findings of the enquiry be made public.
Among the findings, the commission has faulted Chizuma for discussing sensitive matters regarding her work with a third party.
And that Dr Steve Kayuni, Director for Public Prosecutions, made an error in being personal in an issue that affected the office of the Dpp.
Meanwhile, the commission has recommended that action be taken on Chizuma regarding the leaked audio.
But, Moses Mkandawire, a good governance expert has expressed discontent with the findings saying they have not addressed the issues that Malawians were expecting.
“Because we wanted to find out, who ordered the arrest, at what time was that order given, and the how did the police execute the order, “said Mkandawire.
Concurring with Mkandawire is Micheal Kayiyatsa a human rights advocate who felt that government has mislead and duped Malawians.
“From the recommendations so far that we have seen, there are a number of questions that are being raised. One of which is the purpose of the enquiry, because Malawians were told that the enquiry was established to look into circumstances surrounding the arrest of Martha Chizuma, but when you look at the recommendation it is giving a picture that the enquiry did more than what was reported. For example, there have made recommendations based on an audio that was illegally released to the public,” said Kayiyatsa.
