Concerns have been raised by experts over the country’s low usage of fertilizer which they say has caused the country to harvest low farm yields.
The concern has come alongside a two days- African Fertilizer and Soil Health summit, which is currently underway in Kenya.
President Lazarus Chakwera is expected to attend the conference which is expected to end on May 8th, 2024.
Felix Jumbe, an Agriculture expert has told us that the summit presents Malawi with opportunities in promoting the agricultural sector.
According to Jumbe, on average Malawi uses 13 kilograms of nitrogen fertilizer per hector, against the required 200 kilograms of nitrogen fertilizer per hector.
