The Malawi Electoral Commission insists it expects that more people will register to vote in the upcoming 2025 polls.
The hope is being raised in the wake of continued engagements between the electoral body and stakeholders over new laws guiding the elections.
Speaking to MIJ Online Dr. Chifundo Kachale, Chairperson of MEC, has cast fears of people not being able to register following recent operations by the National Registration Bureau.
And on his part, Dr Macloud Kadammanja – Chief Executive Officer for Lilongwe City Council called on people to clearly understand the difference between having national ID and being eligible to vote arguing that this will chiefly help to clear misunderstandings ahead of the elections.
