Fifteen Malawian children rescued from trafficking cartel in Mozambique

Authorities have rescued fifteen Malawian children who were being trafficked to Mozambique.

Speaking to MIJ Online Caleb Thole, Executive Director for Malawi Network Against Human Trafficking said through the operation, they have arrested three people identified as Asani Govati, Alefa Jossamu and Salati Mbewe at Linthipe 1 along Dedza-Lilongwe.

The children are believed to be from Kasungu district, according to Thole.

Thole said currently survivors are being kept at Kasungu police station.

He has since asked well-wishers to support the children with food and clothing.

The operation was conducted under Tigwirane Manja Counter Trafficking Activity which is supporting the repatriation, reintegration of Victims with support from USAID.
