Information sourced by MIJ FM indicates that 5 people have been shortlisted for the position of the Ombudsman.
The 5 are Grace Malela, Tadala Peggy Chinkwezule, Wellington Kazembe, Gloria Kalebe Namondwe and Yamikani David Kambauwa.
In total, 11 people had applied for the job.
According to Joyce Chitsulo, Chairperson of the Public Appointments Committee of Parliament, letters inviting those shortlisted for interviews are yet to be sent.
She said interviews are scheduled for 11 and 12 August 2021.
Chitsulo has told MIJ Online it’s the wish of PAC to have the office of the Ombudsman post filled by 1st September as its been vacant for a long period of time.
The office of the Ombudsman became vacant following the appointment of Martha Chizuma as Anti Corruption Director General.
