Govt for improved access to gadgets

Government is pondering on implementing a two-year tax relief on smart and digital gadgets.

The move is being touted as a probable catalyst towards enhancing improved access to the internet.

Moses Kunkuyu made the remarks during the launch TTC ICT support initiatives in Phalombe district.

According to Kunkuyu, aside from donating computers to Teachers Training Colleges, they intend to ensure that the universal service fund is assisting students access quality education.

He said the impending tax break will allow people purchase equipment which will go a long way in enhancing use of digital technologies which will help the nation grow in many ways like the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, education minister Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima has said the state of the art equipment in colleges will make sure the students utilize modern means of acquiring and utilizing information.

The initiative is meant to run for five years and to the tune of MK 2 Billion.
