Joyce Banda for improved living standards of women

Former Malawi President Dr Joyce Banda says financial inclusion is key to improve living standards for women in the country.

The remarks come as TNM has launched Mudzi Wathu village Bank which is aimed at giving chance to Bank Nkhonde groups to have a special account with Mpamba to secure their savings.

Speaking to MIJ FM on the sidelines of women’s conference and signing of the partnership with TNM, Joyce Banda former President for Malawi said it’s of paramount to economically empower women especially to those in rural areas.

Banda added by pleading with the corporate world to come in with more support to help women so that they can be able to make ends meet.

And on his part, Chris Sukasuka General Manager for Mpamba at TNM said the village Bank accounts will help to ease burden of traveling long distances for meetings and also to pay the agreed amounts.

According to Sukasuka the accounts will be having small charges but in turn will assist in dealing with defaulters and tricksters who might run away with moneys.
