A grouping under the banner known as Independent Civil Society says there is need for Malawians and other stakeholders to avoid what they describe as continued exertion of pressure on the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
It follows rife protests online as President Lazarus Chakwera recently reinstated Prince Kapondamgaga as Chief of Staff at State Residences.

Kapondamgaga was suspended on July 21 2022 following an ACB report that linked him to dealings with United Kingdom-based businessperson Zunneth Sattar, who was being investigated for allegedly bribing government officials to influence award of public contracts to his firms.
He was later cleared by the Anti- Corruption Bureau which led to his reinstatement.
Meanwhile, the Independent Civil Society has thrown weight behind the decision Chakwera to reinstated Kapondamgaga.
The activists comprising political analysts Caesar Kondowe, Caleb Ng’ombo and veteran activist Unandi Banda have said the decision is not wrong because the person had been available for the ACB and was cleared.
According Kondowe, in the meantime, they also seek Malawians to avoid heaping so much pressure on the ACB.
‘’All what the ACB does emanates from their legal mandate. We need to take out this continued pressure on the bureau. It has been given resources and that trust from Malawians is quite crucial. We also seek to urge everyone to take part in the fight against the vice, ‘’he said.
