Details have emerged that the Malawi Prison Service operations have come the latest to relocate to the capital Lilongwe.
Since a long period of time, the services have been headquartered in the old capital Zomba, but have are now to be head to Lilongwe.
The move is like that of the Malawi Electoral Commission and the Immigration Department which had been in Blantyre before being moved to Lilongwe as well at the start of this year.
Meanwhile, Chimwemwe Shaba Spokesperson for Malawi Prison Services has confirmed to MIJ Online that preparations are at an advanced stage to fully move the prison offices to capital city.
According to Shaba, the new development will help the department to cut costs that are incurred when the offices base in Zomba.
Shaba has however assured the public that operations for the department will not be affected once the relocation exercise is finalized.
