Nga Ntafu’s autobiography now out

Montfort Media in conjunction with the Family of Mtafu has today launched the Autobiography of Malawi’s first neurosurgeon and incisive politician Dr Andrew George Nga Mtafu.

Wrote the book before his death.

The ceremony took place at Malawi Sun Hotel in Blantyre.

According to His Worship Viva Nyimba, Author’s representative- Mtafu, a neurosurgeon who had also served in a ministerial position, wrote the book before his death in 2015.

Fr Blaise Jailosi, General Manager at Montfort Media has said the book if utilized will contribute in building a better Malawi.

He also described the autobiography launch as a way of celebrating the wisdom left behind by Mtafu.

According to an analysis of the book- by Dr Levi Zeleza Manda, the autobiography is about a boy’s life on Chizumulu Island.

It is also expounding more about the Malawian Culture, Education, Health, Religion and Politics among others.

Molin Masamba, Book Publishers Association of Malawi-BPAM, has described the autobiography as a book that is full of wisdom which will be of great significance to Malawians.

In addition, Masamba said, publishers in the country assist in preservation of culture and keeping legacies alive.

In his remarks, the guest of honor, Professor Edge Kanyongolo noted with concern that in as much as people do not embrace the reading culture, only a few people are writing stories of the land.

According to Kanyongolo, such tendency will have the country’s stories written by non-Malawians but in  a version that will suit their needs.
