Ombudsman to make a stand after court ruling on Kachaje report
The Office of the ombudsman has said it is studying a ruling delivered by Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda on the recruitment of Henry Kachaje as CEO of Mera before determining on the way forward.
This comes as on Monday Nyirenda refused to vacate an injunction obtained by Mera which stopped the release of an investigative report in the recruitment of Kachaje.
Nyirenda also dismissed an application by the office of the ombudsman to discharge permission for judicial review which Mera sought.
Meanwhile, Nyirenda has ordered the office of the ombudsman to file defense for the judicial review commenced by Mera by 7th January and has ordered that the rescheduling conference of the case be held on 17th January, 2022.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Grace Malera, the ombudsman of the republic of Malawi said her office is studying the ruling comprehensively to decide on the way forward soon.
Malera said her office is not only considering on whether to appeal to appeal the ruling but also considering other available options.
